Description

  • Lead and execute foundation projects in the field on a 20/8 rotation schedule.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents to support field execution.
  • Interpret geotechnical reports and apply findings to field conditions and construction activities.
  • Oversee civil construction activities such as earthworks, foundations, grading, drainage, and access road construction.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Perform or support quality control and quality assurance documentation and processes.
  • Make sound field decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced, remote work environment.
  • Travel to project sites and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as an EIT or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
  • 2–5+ years of relevant field experience in civil construction, utilities, infrastructure, transmission, substations, or energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction practices, including earthworks, foundations, grading, drainage, and access roads.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, and geotechnical reports.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD or Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in remote or outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Civil or Structural Engineering Tech / EIT with 5–10 years of experience in civil earthworks and soil testing is required for the additional qualifications listed.
  • Willing to spend about 90% of the time in the field.
  • Field soil testing experience and project coordinator experience are required.
  • Safety tickets and testing experience, including lab compaction (SPMD/SPDD), field compaction testing (nuclear densometer), hydrometer, CBR, shear test, electrical resistivity, corrosivity, ASTM, and CSA, are required or preferred.
  • Experience with asphalt and aggregate is required.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license with experience towing a trailer is required.
