Description

  • Own implementation design across ingestion, data modeling, and data consumption layers.
  • Shape detailed platform architecture in partnership with the architecture team.
  • Design integrations across diverse production source systems and build ingestion pipelines.
  • Transform raw data into business-ready datasets with consistent metric definitions.
  • Establish engineering standards for data quality, testing, and platform development.
  • Partner with platform and operations teams on safe, low-impact production database extraction.
  • Work directly with data users to ensure the platform addresses real business questions.
  • Mentor data engineers and help guide their technical work.

Requirements

  • Substantial experience building and operating cloud data platforms, preferably including a platform designed from scratch.
  • Strong judgment when making architectural decisions with incomplete information.
  • Deep SQL expertise and experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or a similar cloud data warehouse.
  • Experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework.
  • Experience with ELT and change-data capture across relational data sources.
  • AWS experience, including read replicas, object storage, and cross-region data movement.
  • Practical experience with dimensional or medallion data modeling.
  • Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or similar workflow orchestration tools.
  • Experience implementing data quality testing.
  • Preferred: healthcare data and protected health information experience, multi-tenant data isolation, semantic or metrics layer design, and modern BI or self-service reporting tools.
