Description

  • Design, build, and operate the core infrastructure that powers Owner’s engineering organization with emphasis on reliability, security, and ease of use.
  • Own and evolve the Kubernetes-based platform on AWS, improving how services are deployed, scaled, monitored, and secured in production.
  • Build and maintain fast, reliable, and maintainable CI/CD pipelines that reduce deploy risk and increase developer velocity and confidence.
  • Identify developer pain points in local development, testing, deployment, and observability, and replace manual workflows with self-service tooling and automation.
  • Partner closely with application engineering teams to define clear patterns, golden paths, and opinionated defaults for how services are built and run.
  • Strengthen operational excellence by improving monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-incident learning processes.
  • Embed security into infrastructure and delivery pipelines by automating best practices and ensuring they are enforced across environments.
  • Take ownership of loosely defined problems, shape them into concrete systems, standards, and outcomes, and communicate trade-offs across teams.

Requirements

  • Deep experience operating production systems in the cloud, particularly on AWS, supporting critical customer-facing workloads.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform, to define, version, and manage cloud infrastructure across environments.
  • Extensive real-world experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting Kubernetes at scale.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and understanding how workflow decisions impact developer velocity and reliability.
  • Demonstrated focus on developer experience with a track record of eliminating slow builds, brittle deploys, unclear ownership, or noisy alerts.
  • Experience improving monitoring, alerting, incident response, and post-incident learning for production services.
  • Ability to think in terms of platforms and leverage, building tools and abstractions that make the right thing easy and the wrong thing hard.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort navigating ambiguity while taking ownership across cross-functional teams.
