Description

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and concrete projects, including asphalt roads, drainage works, pits, and curb and gutter construction.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and document measured quantities for pricing.
  • Calculate labour, plant, material, subcontractor, and overhead costs for pricing sheets.
  • Develop structured Excel-based pricing models and maintain consistent estimating templates.
  • Compile and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing for owner review.
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps, exclusions, ambiguities, provisional items, and cost risks.
  • Maintain organised estimating records, revision history, and pricing adjustments to ensure auditability.
  • Support complete estimating and pricing documentation for competitive bid preparation.
  • Communicate clear scope and pricing queries when issues are identified.

Requirements

  • Civil engineering qualification preferred, or strong practical experience in civil/concrete estimating.
  • Experience estimating asphalt roads, drainage, pits, curb and gutter works.
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential; estimating is completed using Excel spreadsheets, not CRM systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with Australian civil construction standards is preferred.
  • Strong analytical mindset and a structured, methodical approach to work.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Reliable, organised, and disciplined in documentation.
  • Clear communication skills for raising scope or pricing queries.
