Description

  • Attend live court and arbitration hearings virtually to build familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
  • Support hearing operations by starting recordings, monitoring audio quality, and resolving audio or technical issues with relevant teams.
  • Review client documentation and prepare custom glossaries for new hearings.
  • Edit live or post-hearing speech-to-text output to improve accuracy, speed, and legal terminology coverage.
  • Work with experienced editors on shorter hearing segments and contribute to same-day transcript production.
  • Collaborate with colleagues using Slack and other internal tools to maintain transcript consistency.
  • Continuously improve transcript readability, consistency, and turnaround times.
  • Participate in training and development sessions covering editorial and technical aspects of the role.
  • Take on greater ownership of hearing preparation, glossary creation, hearing management, and transcript finalisation.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies across transcript production while supporting team coordination.

Requirements

  • Previous transcription, editing, or proofreading experience.
  • A degree is preferred but not required; equivalent practical experience is equally valued.
  • Extremely high standard of written and spoken English to meet exacting service standards.
  • Ability to proofread and research effectively.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during prolonged periods of editing.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and comfortable working in a team.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn new systems using internally developed software.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute from audio.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Experience in legal transcription or familiarity with legal terminology is highly beneficial.
  • Background in editing and/or proofreading is highly beneficial.
