Description

  • Develop and execute OpenMined's US policy strategy, with emphasis on attribution-based control and distributed computing infrastructure
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on US legislative and regulatory developments affecting data protection and AI governance
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Congress, the Administration, relevant federal agencies, and select state governments
  • Represent OpenMined in policy forums, consultations, working groups, public consultations, and regulatory impact assessments
  • Build coalitions with privacy-tech companies, research institutions, and civil society organizations to advance shared policy goals
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for Product, Engineering, and technical teams
  • Develop policy briefs, position papers, blog posts, and research papers to advance OpenMined's policy positions and thought leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Education, and research teams to operationalize policy strategy and inform technical and infrastructure decisions
  • Coordinate with global policy colleagues and support leadership on policy-informed partnership frameworks and deployment strategies

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in US technology policy
  • Strong understanding of US legislative processes and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven track record of successful policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience translating between technical and policy communities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Deep commitment to privacy, open-source, and democratizing access to AI
  • Willingness to travel
  • Advanced degree in law, public policy, computer science, or related field (preferred)
  • Technical background or demonstrated ability to understand complex privacy-preserving technologies (preferred)
  • Experience working with open-source communities (preferred)
