Description

  • Define the canonical agent identity, delegation, audit, and kill-switch reference architecture used across the field organization.
  • Personally lead the most strategic, regulated, or technically novel customer deployments with no existing playbook.
  • Review and improve architectures proposed by other field engineers and coach senior customer-facing technical teams.
  • Synthesize patterns across accounts and turn them into recommendations for product and engineering priorities.
  • Represent Okta as a technical authority to CISO, CIO, and Chief AI Officer audiences and contribute to external standards efforts.
  • Step into the hardest technical and political situations across accounts and resolve blockers.
  • Define and scale the team’s evaluation and observability approach for authorization latency, scope sprawl, delegation anomalies, audit completeness, and kill-switch verification.
  • Convert recurring field work into reusable modules, internal tooling, and enablement that increase team leverage.
  • Work hands-on in code while setting technical direction for the broader field function.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience shipping production software.
  • Deep experience with distributed systems and identity.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM, RFC 8693 token exchange, act claims, CIMD, DCR, and DPoP.
  • Contribution to standards or open source is a plus.
  • Deep fluency in agent security topics including OWASP Top 10 for Agentic Applications, NIST AI RMF, MITRE ATLAS, MCP, A2A, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act.
  • Experience applying security and compliance frameworks in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and SOC 2 environments.
  • Expertise in fine-grained authorization using ReBAC and ABAC with policy engines such as OPA, Cedar, or OpenFGA.
  • Production integrations across major agent platforms and MCP, with daily AI-native development experience.
  • Track record of setting technical direction across multiple teams or accounts and mentoring senior engineers.
  • Credibility with both technical and executive audiences, including CISOs and principal engineers.
  • High-agency, founder’s mindset focused on building a function, not just owning an account.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% on occasion.
