Description

  • Develop balance-of-plant design for a commercial-scale used nuclear fuel recycling facility.
  • Perform process analysis and generate system and facility requirements.
  • Define specifications and performance criteria for facility process support equipment.
  • Develop facility layouts, workflows, and infrastructure plans that optimize efficiency, safety, security, and compliance.
  • Interact with and manage outside A&E firms supporting facility development work.
  • Lead project management activities related to facility design.
  • Create or oversee building drawings, including architectural, P&ID, and pipe routing drawings.
  • Establish maintenance and reliability processes and procedures.
  • Generate maintenance and reliability documentation for regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across process equipment, chemical and electrochemical engineering, I&C, software engineering, quality assurance, and licensing.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of experience in facility design, heavy modification, construction, and/or industrial engineering.
  • Engineering education in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Structural engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with large-scale manufacturing or chemical process facility design or operations.
  • Project management and vendor management experience.
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Broad familiarity with engineering principles and strong systems engineering intuition.
  • Experience with balance-of-plant facility design.
  • Experience with engineering drawing types used for large-scale facilities.
  • Experience in the commercial or governmental nuclear sectors is preferred.
  • Experience designing for high reliability and extended maintenance intervals is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanized material handling systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing radioactive material is preferred.
  • Experience in highly automated facilities is preferred.
  • Experience designing equipment for high-temperature operation above 500 C is preferred.
  • Experience deploying or working on pilot plants is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical content verbally.
  • Strong technical writing ability in a modern active voice.
