Description

  • Lead design for one startup at a time through the initial 6–9 months, driving product design from discovery to product-market fit.
  • Conduct and analyze user interviews, surveys, and usability studies to surface actionable insights and define user needs.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, and clearly articulate research findings to inform product and design decisions.
  • Define and communicate product design vision and architecture; create flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for web and mobile.
  • Design and evolve UI and brand identity (logo, visual elements) and ensure consistency across product interfaces, splash pages, decks, and social channels.
  • Build and maintain style guides, design systems, and UI libraries to ensure scalable, cohesive product experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with startup CEOs and cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing) across discovery and delivery.
  • Refine studio playbooks, tools, and internal processes to make design work more repeatable and scalable.
  • Support recruiting for startups by helping define the profile for the first in-house design hire and participating in sourcing and interviews.
  • Continuously learn and adopt new design trends, tools, and technologies to improve craft and contribute to team growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product design experience in dynamic, intensive environments.
  • Meaningful portion of experience focused on B2B SaaS and/or AI-infused products (preferred).
  • Proven ability to design and iterate products using genuine user feedback and data insights.
  • Strong experience engaging with real users to achieve measurable product outcomes.
  • Demonstrated 0–1 experience building new products or launching products in early-stage contexts.
  • Portfolio required showing visual design craft, complex systems thinking, and examples of launching and iterating user-centric products.
  • Passion for startups and working in entrepreneurial, fast-paced environments.
  • First-principles problem-solving mindset and ability to design without established patterns.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work quickly in agile startup settings and remain composed under ambiguity.
  • Team-centric collaboration skills and a commitment to continuous learning and craft development.
