Description

  • Design, deploy, maintain, and support cloud-based SQL Server environments across VMs, Azure SQL, and Azure SQL Managed Instance platforms.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues using standard tools and monitoring platforms to improve product data platform outcomes.
  • Build secure, scalable, and compliant database solutions using Azure SQL Server and other cloud-native technologies.
  • Support the evolution of the analytics lakehouse and its underlying data sources.
  • Take ownership of support issues and work with other engineering teams on data platform solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements and improve outcomes.
  • Work with product development to follow best practices throughout the SDLC.
  • Mentor junior engineers on processes, procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Review data protection and compliance technologies to ensure alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Create robust real-time monitoring and alerting using log analysis and platform/process telemetry.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL in production environments, ideally in healthcare or regulated industries.
  • Deep understanding of cloud database architecture, including PaaS vs. IaaS and hybrid cloud models.
  • Expert command of T-SQL, PowerShell, and Python or C# for automation and scripting.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with Azure Fabric, Databricks, or other big data platforms for large-scale healthcare analytics is preferred.
  • Exposure to Python for data engineering, automation, or ML pipeline integration is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of streaming data architectures such as Azure Event Hubs or Kafka and real-time analytics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, or lakehouse architectures is preferred.
  • Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data ownership models is preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent is preferred.
  • 100% remote work with up to 10% travel as needed.
