Description

  • Design, deploy, maintain, and support cloud-based SQL Server environments across VMs, Azure SQL, and Azure SQL Managed Instance platforms.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues using monitoring tools and standard diagnostic practices.
  • Apply governance, management, and support best practices across data platforms.
  • Own support issues and work with other engineering teams on data platform solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help train the team on new processes and practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align solutions with customer goals.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting customer experience and delivery reliability.
  • Execute standardized data protection practices across all data platforms.
  • Develop and execute predefined data pipeline patterns for the analytics and reporting lakehouse.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience with SQL Server and Azure SQL in production environments, ideally in healthcare or regulated industries.
  • Deep understanding of cloud database architecture, including PaaS vs. IaaS and hybrid cloud models.
  • Strong command of T-SQL and PowerShell, with Python or C# preferred for automation and scripting.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and clinical teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, especially around data lineage and auditability.
  • Experience with Azure Fabric, Databricks, or other big data platforms for large-scale healthcare analytics is preferred.
  • Exposure to Python for data engineering, automation, or ML pipeline integration is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of streaming data architectures such as Azure Event Hubs or Kafka and real-time analytics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Delta Lake, Parquet, or lakehouse architectures is preferred.
  • Understanding of data mesh principles and distributed data ownership models is preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent is preferred.
  • 100% remote work environment.
  • Travel required up to 10% as needed.
