Description

  • Supervise day-to-day lab staff activities, including testing and data review.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and sample run planning for the lab.
  • Ensure production work is completed according to department goals and that all case samples are processed and accounted for.
  • Coach, motivate, evaluate, and train staff, including new-hire onboarding.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Document nonconformance reports, corrective actions, and protocol deviations, and support CAPA completion.
  • Resolve employee issues in collaboration with management and Human Resources.
  • Hold regular one-on-one meetings, lead shift meetings, and conduct staff performance reviews.
  • Approve timecards and PTO requests and serve as the go-to person when the manager is unavailable.
  • Escalate lab issues, troubleshoot process problems, and coordinate with cross-functional teams such as OPS, Accessioning, Engineering, Stats, R&D, and Support.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Medical Technology with 4 years of CLIA laboratory experience, or BS/BA in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences with 5 years of CLIA laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences with 3 years of CLIA laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree with a BS/BA in Medical Technology and 2 years of CLIA laboratory experience.
  • Current MT/MLS/CLS/MB/MDx certification from ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Ability to take on projects with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer, troubleshooting, word processing, and data management skills.
  • Experience in molecular biology.
  • Pipetting skills.
  • Ability to maintain current Natera training requirements and complete HIPAA/PHI, general compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
