Description

  • Supervise day-to-day lab staff performance, including laboratory testing and data review.
  • Manage daily staffing, scheduling, and sample run schedules.
  • Ensure production work is completed according to department goals and that all case samples are processed and accounted for.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs, safety procedures, and departmental expectations.
  • Train and onboard new hires in coordination with the lead.
  • Document nonconformance reports and corrective actions, and escalate protocol deviations as needed.
  • Assist the manager in initiating and completing CAPAs.
  • Handle employee issues and coordinate with management or Human Resources to resolve them.
  • Hold regular one-on-one meetings, lead shift meetings, and conduct staff performance reviews.
  • Support compliance with regulatory requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
  • Approve timecards and PTO requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as the go-to leader when the manager is unavailable.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Medical Technology or equivalent with 4 years of CLIA laboratory experience.
  • BS/BA in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences or a related field with 5 years of CLIA laboratory experience.
  • Master’s degree in arts or science with a major in chemical, physical, or biological sciences and 3 years of CLIA laboratory experience.
  • Master’s degree with a BS/BA in Medical Technology and 2 years of CLIA laboratory experience.
  • Current MT/MLS/CLS/MB/MDx certification from ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Ability to take on projects with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer, troubleshooting, pipetting, word processing, and data management skills.
  • Experience in molecular biology.
