Description

  • Accurately review and abstract clinical patient data from EHR systems, paper charts, and other source documents.
  • Apply medical coding and classification systems such as ICD-10, MedDRA, CPT, HCPCS, and SNOMED CT to standardized data schemas.
  • Use specialized data management tools such as REDCap, registries, and custom EDC systems to enter, track, and maintain clinical data integrity.
  • Support cross-functional teams by translating clinical abstraction and encoding requirements.
  • Support prompt engineering and design for AI and LLM initiatives.
  • Apply clinical data management best practices and GCP principles throughout abstraction and ETL workflows.
  • Use MACROs, Excel/Google Sheets functions, formulas, and pivot tables to support quality assurance and data validation.
  • Conduct peer reviews of abstracted and encoded records to support quality and productivity goals.
  • Maintain adherence to project protocols, IRB requirements, HIPAA, and organizational data privacy and security policies.
  • Participate in developing and refining abstraction guidelines, tools, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide timely abstraction submissions and productivity reporting while participating in team meetings and workshops.

Requirements

  • U.S.-licensed Nurse, PA-C, NP, or DNP is required.
  • Master’s degree in health sciences is required.
  • 4-5 years of experience in clinical data abstraction and medical records review, preferably in cancer, women’s health, or rare diseases.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and abstracting complex clinical information from electronic and paper medical records.
  • Direct experience with clinical data encoding using ontologies such as ICD-10-CM and SNOMED CT.
  • Experience with data mapping, standardization, and harmonization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite, including pivot tables, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Experience using clinical data systems or databases such as fillable forms, EDCs, and data registries.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, disease processes, standard clinical workflows, and genetic testing.
  • CCDM, CCRP, ACR-P, or CRA certification preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet productivity and quality deadlines.
  • High initiative, self-motivation, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to work in a team setting.
