Description

  • Verify proper specimens and perform required tests.
  • Analyze clinical laboratory specimens using standard methods and procedures with high accuracy.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laboratory methods and processes.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized in accordance with good laboratory practice.
  • Complete training and assigned deadlines on time.
  • Serve as a go-to resource when the lead or supervisor is unavailable.
  • Assist with training new hires and implementing process changes.
  • Provide specialized training on instruments and protocols as a super user.
  • Recognize, troubleshoot, document, and escalate equipment malfunctions and protocol deviations.
  • Update standard operating procedures and databases to reflect current practices.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through proper documentation.
  • Perform quality control procedures when applicable to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in good operating condition.
  • Communicate with team members and other departments and assist teammates with daily tasks.
  • Act as a professional role model and mentor while supporting departmental expectations.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • BS/BA degree, or equivalent, in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
  • Current California CLS license or CGMBS license (Clinical Genetics Molecular Biology Scientist).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, computer, troubleshooting, and pipetting skills.
  • Experience in molecular biology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Word processing and data management skills.
  • Ability to discern color visually, or evaluate cellular morphology when applicable, and pass the applicable screening assessment.
  • Must complete HIPAA/PHI privacy, general policy and procedure compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain current status on Natera training requirements.
  • Must pass a post-offer criminal background check.
