Description

  • Lead day-to-day engineering execution for the Web Applications team, ensuring priorities, ownership, timelines, risks, dependencies, and quality expectations are clear.
  • Manage Web Services engineers and contractors through coaching, feedback, prioritization, performance support, and team development.
  • Own team budget and resource planning, including contractor, vendor, tooling, operational expense, and headcount inputs.
  • Translate product direction and organizational needs into coordinated engineering plans and measurable execution practices.
  • Establish team workflows, planning practices, and operating rhythms that improve clarity, accountability, quality, and predictability.
  • Maintain sufficient product and architectural context to evaluate tradeoffs, identify risks, and guide engineering work.
  • Improve engineering practices across code review, testing, documentation, release readiness, observability, technical debt, and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate launch and operational readiness with technical and cross-functional partners.
  • Communicate progress, priorities, risks, and decisions clearly to stakeholders while fostering an accountable, inclusive engineering culture.
  • Support the team’s maturation by creating structure, solving problems, and strengthening the systems around the work.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of overall industry experience.
  • At least 10 years of engineering leadership experience in software product, hosted services, SaaS, cloud-based applications, communications platforms, or similarly complex technical environments.
  • 5+ years of people management experience in an engineering environment.
  • Experience managing senior technical teams, budget and resource planning, and partnerships with directors, senior ICs, product stakeholders, infrastructure/SRE teams, contractors, and external partners.
  • Experience translating technical, product, or organizational direction into execution plans, ownership models, delivery practices, operating rhythms, and measurable outcomes.
  • Technical depth to understand engineering tradeoffs, release risks, codebase quality, architectural implications, service reliability, security/privacy considerations, operational readiness, and core engineering practices.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills in small, scaling, ambiguous, or evolving environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled tools into engineering management and workflows with attention to accuracy, privacy, security, and responsible use.
  • Experience with hosted email, calendaring, scheduling, secure file sharing, communications platforms, or related subscription products is a plus.
  • Experience with identity systems, billing/subscription integrations, customer lifecycle workflows, open-source environments, or privacy-preserving product design is preferred.
  • Must reside in and have permanent work authorization for the specified country location, and no visa sponsorship is provided.
  • Role requires consistent overlap with EST working hours, with strong preference for candidates located in or closely aligned to that time zone.

Benefits

  • Base salary benchmarked to the 60th percentile of the peer market, with US salary range of $175,000-$200,000 USD and Canada salary range of $155,000-$180,000 CAD.
