Description

  • Lead research and development of novel motion planning algorithms for autonomous driving, including search-based, geometry-based, and probabilistic approaches.
  • Architect and integrate motion planning and prediction algorithms, and drive their evaluation and refinement for deployment.
  • Design and build a robust, scalable, high-performance codebase for rapid prototyping and rigorous algorithm evaluation.
  • Collaborate with perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, tracking, and control teams to ensure end-to-end system performance.
  • Apply deep software development and research expertise to improve engineering practices and teach better software principles.
  • Mentor junior team members and help foster a product-focused, research-driven engineering culture.

Requirements

  • PhD preferred in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience in robotics, preferably the AV industry.
  • 5+ years of research experience in robotics or motion planning with a track record of state-of-the-art contributions.
  • 3+ years of C++ software development experience focused on high-performance and reliable systems.
  • Experience owning and leading technical development of complex features from problem formulation through research, implementation, and production deployment.
  • Experience with probabilistic models such as Gaussian mixture models, Hidden Markov Models, and Particle Filters is preferred.
  • Experience with Bayesian modeling and inference techniques for decision making under uncertainty is preferred.
  • Experience with the Bazel build framework is preferred.
  • Strong curiosity, continuous innovation mindset, and drive to advance autonomous driving technology.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $168,000 to $225,000 USD.
  • Additional compensation may include a bonus and company equity.
