Description

  • Define, prototype, and validate metrics for autonomy subsystem performance evaluation, especially for perception, prediction, and planning.
  • Assess the coverage of training and testing data and curate test sets that represent the intended operational design domain.
  • Evaluate machine learning model performance against defined metrics and test cases.
  • Analyze large-scale on-road and simulation data to assess system-level performance and subsystem contributions to behavior.
  • Define performance requirements for autonomy subsystems and the analyses needed to establish those targets.
  • Coordinate subsystem-level evaluation with broader systems testing efforts in support of safety claims and the safety case.
  • Work closely with autonomy, infrastructure, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Provide meaningful performance insights to ML developers to help improve models on the car.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working on high-tech safety-critical systems or robotics.
  • Master’s degree in systems, robotics, machine learning, computer science, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a self-starting working style.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience analyzing large-scale data used to train and test machine learning models.
  • Experience designing metrics that capture key aspects of system behavior and support model development.
  • Preferred: experience training machine learning models and familiarity with state-of-the-art ML architectures.
  • Preferred: deep experience in perception, prediction, or planning for autonomous robotics.
  • Preferred: knowledge of C++, especially for safety-critical systems.
  • Preferred: experience with systems verification and validation techniques.
  • Preferred: experience with regression testing for deployed software in a safety-critical environment.
  • Preferred: familiarity with automotive standards such as ISO 12207, ISO 26262, and ISO 21448.
  • Preferred: familiarity with software quality management and assurance standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
  • Preferred: strong understanding of robotics systems, including sensors, actuators, mechatronics, and software systems.

  • Base salary range of $125,000 to $167,000 USD.
