Description

  • Lead and develop a motion planning team, including ownership of planning algorithms and constraint generation.
  • Provide technical direction on architectural strategy, resource allocation, operational execution, and technical debt management.
  • Deliver a robust, scalable planner with safety as a priority across design, prototyping, testing, deployment, and production.
  • Use metrics to guide development and improve technical components.
  • Advance planning methods toward data-driven approaches.
  • Mentor team members and provide technical and professional feedback in an inclusive, collaborative environment.
  • Generate new ideas, define team vision, and consider the full robotaxi system.
  • Implement and review algorithms and code using rigorous engineering practices.
  • Partner with project managers to build roadmaps and execute plans on schedule.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Localization, Perception, Prediction, Controls, ML Products, and Systems Engineering.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing a development team, with demonstrated success mentoring, fostering career growth, and improving productivity.
  • Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of delivering a production-quality motion planner in a leadership role.
  • Advanced proficiency in search algorithms.
  • Experience developing motion planning solutions with machine learning.
  • Expertise in C++, Linux, and Python, with supplementary knowledge of SQL.
  • Strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in motion planning under uncertainty and in dynamic environments.
  • Knowledge of robotics algorithms across localization, perception, prediction, motion planning, and control for autonomous vehicles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills.
  • Preferred: experience in autonomous vehicles or other robotics industries.
  • Preferred: experience using simulation tools.
  • Preferred: experience with verification and validation for safety-critical systems.
