Description

  • Design mathematics problems that challenge a frontier AI model and require a specialized tool to solve.
  • Choose an anchor tool and build a problem that depends on that tool's use.
  • Write a Python reference solution and provide input files when needed.
  • Define the correct numerical answer and the tolerance needed for a response to count as correct.
  • Test and calibrate tasks against batches of model attempts to reach a target pass rate of 10-30%.
  • Revise and tighten problems based on model behavior until they meet quality and difficulty targets.
  • Submit calibrated tasks for senior review and incorporate feedback to improve task quality.
  • Work within sealed Linux containers that include the required tool and a programmatic judge.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mathematics, Pure or Applied, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience.
  • Python proficiency for writing reference solutions.
  • Fluency with, or a strong willingness to independently learn, at least one scriptable mathematical package such as Z3, cvc5, Macaulay2, Singular, CasADi, IPOPT, SDPB, G6K, fpylll, or SageMath.
  • Ability to design problems that genuinely require a specialized solver.
  • Strong written English at C1 level or higher.
  • Willingness to work on a part-time, non-permanent, project-based basis.
  • Ability to submit a CV in English and indicate English proficiency.
  • No prior experience with the listed tools is required if you are ready to learn independently and start quickly.
