Description

  • Lead business analysis activities within multidisciplinary teams across agile and waterfall project environments.
  • Analyse and understand complex user and business needs from multiple and sometimes conflicting sources.
  • Map business processes and information flows into clear artefacts for stakeholders and delivery teams.
  • Translate user needs into system functionality and well-defined requirements.
  • Elicit, validate, prioritise, and maintain requirements with stakeholders, including traceability and change management.
  • Manage non-functional requirements in context of the wider business and technical environment.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders to balance user-centred design principles against service requirements.
  • Write clear user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
  • Lead and support other business analysts on small to medium projects and more complex transformations.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to the Business Analysis Community of Practice.

Requirements

  • Extensive business analysis experience or equivalent knowledge gained through recognised bodies such as BCS, BABOK, or Agile PO.
  • Experience leading analysis as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate business modelling techniques to explain problems, situations, and solutions.
  • Experience recommending improvements to business structures, processes, and information flows, supported by automation and technology.
  • Strong experience defining, eliciting, documenting, prioritising, and managing requirements across different change methodologies.
  • Experience managing traceability, requirement changes, refinement, issues, omissions, and escalations.
  • Experience working effectively in fast-paced agile and waterfall environments, with the ability to adapt practice to different methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to resolve tension and conflict.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to draw clear conclusions from interviews, published requirements, and data.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills and a proactive approach to professional development and mentoring.
  • Practical experience with Lean practices, systems thinking, business architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or BIZBOK, or specialist knowledge in a business domain, security, data, or privacy.
  • Knowledge of the UK public services landscape, GDS Service Standards, software development lifecycles, APIs, data modelling, and collaborative tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, Teams, Slack, MIRO, or Mural is desirable.
  • Experience with scrum environments, definition of ready/done, data catalogues, logical data models, ERDs, or housing management systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work from home with client site visits as required.
