Description

  • Independently scope and run experiments with LLMs, prompt engineering, and novel methods for eliciting and aggregating forecast relationships.
  • Build MVPs and prototypes to rapidly test, validate, and iterate on ideas.
  • Design and implement methods for eliciting, aggregating, and visualizing coherence rules across forecasts, including causal and correlational relationships and necessary or sufficient conditions.
  • Develop intuitive interfaces that make complex forecast relationships and world models accessible to stakeholders.
  • Build AI-powered tools for world model elicitation and legibilization, including coherence rule detection and latent variable suggestion systems.
  • Integrate new capabilities into the main Metaculus platform.
  • Potentially build standalone tools for specialized use cases.

Requirements

  • Commitment to writing maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for ambiguous problems in novel domains.
  • Experience with AI integration, including prompting, RAG, and fine-tuning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Genuine interest in improving humanity’s ability to predict and navigate complex challenges.
  • Full-stack engineering experience with both frontend and backend development is a bonus.
  • Experience with Django and Next.js frameworks is a bonus.
  • Experience building intuitive interfaces for data visualization and interaction is a bonus.
  • Background in statistics, probability theory, or causal inference is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) and graphical models is a bonus.
  • Experience building data visualization tools for complex relationships is a bonus.
  • Experience with forecasting platforms or prediction markets is a bonus.
  • Background in epistemics, decision theory, or related fields is a bonus.
