Description

  • Write Python scripts to acquire and process data from academic, government, and commercial sources for product development.
  • Develop internal tools and automation to process data and scale ETL tasks for geospatial datasets.
  • Maintain accurate metadata on internal datasets using scripts, automation, and selected tooling.
  • Manage the team’s Git repository of ETL scripts and follow version control best practices.
  • Optimize data ingestion processes to support reliable, timely, and scalable downstream products and analytics.
  • Monitor ingestion pipelines using logging, alerting, and metrics to detect failures and data inconsistencies.
  • Contribute to internal data catalogues, manuals, dictionaries, and glossaries across countries, products, and projects.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with teams in Indonesia, The Netherlands, Lithuania, and Ghana, reporting to the Data Manager in Indonesia.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to collect and organize data from multiple sources effectively and efficiently.
  • Understanding of data management and data entry processes.
  • Self-driven, proactive, accountable, and a reliable team player.
  • Full working proficiency in English.
  • Experience building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable ETL/data pipelines, especially for complex geospatial datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Python and data engineering frameworks such as Pandas, Pydantic, Rasterio, and Tippecanoe.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, version control, documentation, data quality assurance, reproducibility, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with GIS scripting tools such as Python, GeoPandas, and PostGIS, and GIS software like QGIS is an advantage.
  • ETL experience is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated projects or case studies involving forest monitoring or land-use analysis are an advantage.
  • Experience with data version control tools such as DVC is an advantage.
  • Start-up experience is an advantage.
