Description

  • Own product-level SEO and AI search strategy by using performance data, competitor research, and audience insights to prioritize opportunities and close coverage gaps.
  • Partner with Social, Product, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Community teams to turn SEO and AEO opportunities into shipped work across multiple channels.
  • Own the technical SEO and AEO roadmap for Mercury.com, including improvements to page speed, rendering, and site architecture.
  • Work closely with Engineering to test new delivery techniques that make the site accessible and fast for both humans and bots.
  • Serve as a partner to the Stories team in building long-term content roadmaps that adapt to search shifts, trends, and business priorities.
  • Build repeatable systems, AI workflows, and guidelines that improve the consistency, efficiency, and impact of SEO and AEO work.
  • Drive evergreen content optimizations with content partners while preserving writing quality, usefulness, and brand standards.
  • Improve how Mercury products are surfaced across owned and earned media by identifying placement opportunities and strengthening authority signals.
  • Identify and scope multi-format assets such as tools, templates, calculators, and downloadable PDFs that increase usefulness, shareability, and citations.
  • Test and scale new approaches for improving traditional and AI search visibility, feeding learnings back into team strategy.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of SEO experience, including 2-3 years focused on AEO, ideally in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Deep technical fluency and a clear understanding of how LLMs interpret and weight content differently from traditional search engines.
  • A track record of independently turning strategy into shipped, high-quality work and setting priorities autonomously.
  • Hands-on experience with AI agents and automation tools, with the ability to turn them into repeatable systems.
  • Strong data-informed judgment for deciding what to prioritize, scale, and cut.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as content, product, social, engineering, and community.

  • Competitive total rewards package that includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
  • Equity in the form of stock options and RSUs.
  • Base salary range of $128,600-$144,600 for NYC, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Base salary range of $115,700-$130,100 for U.S. employees outside those major metro areas.
  • Base salary range of 121,500 CAD-$136,700 CAD for Canadian employees.
  • Compensation is determined based on experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
