Description

  • Lead financial crime compliance oversight for Marqeta’s card and financial services products.
  • Create and execute strategies to mitigate financial crime risk across the company’s ecosystem and customer base.
  • Support the creation of a best-in-class global Financial Crime Compliance operation.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial crime risk assessments for products, services, and card program constructs.
  • Build and maintain risk management frameworks, including control frameworks and assessment methodologies.
  • Create and implement reporting for compliance performance and program maturity using KPIs, KRIs, operational metrics, and industry benchmarks.
  • Assist the BSA Officer and Global MLRO in administering and executing the global financial crime compliance program.
  • Partner with Risk Product, Legal, Compliance, Bank Partnership, and other cross-functional teams to define and optimize AML and sanctions best practices globally.
  • Build relationships with bank partners and internal/external compliance counterparts.
  • Serve as a lead connecting the Marqeta community to compliance initiatives and strategy.

Requirements

  • 13+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Prior experience at a Federal Regulator or top Consulting Firm is a strong plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, preferably in financial services or fintech.
  • Track record of progressive leadership and advancement.
  • Card issuing risk management experience preferred, including strategy and governance.
  • 8+ years of experience managing people in a highly matrixed global environment.
  • Expert knowledge of AML/BSA, PCMLTFA, EU AML Directives, FATF, EEAS sanctions, GLBA, and EPPO fraud regulations.
  • Prior experience as a BSA Officer, CAMLO, or MLRO within the EU is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical modeling, data analysis, and risk assessment techniques.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Base salary range of $175,800 - $219,700 for National, $190,200 - $237,800 for Premium, and $206,800 - $258,500 for Premium Plus locations.
