Description

  • Convert SQL, stored procedures, and database objects to PostgreSQL-compatible SQL/PLpgSQL and escalate complex cases as needed.
  • Work through AWS SCT findings and flag tool limitations for senior review.
  • Maintain Flyway migration scripts, including versioning, repeatable migrations, and rollbacks.
  • Identify and troubleshoot database-related application bugs.
  • Support PostgreSQL query optimization through execution plans, indexing, and query rewrites.
  • Monitor AWS DMS during full load and CDC phases and report issues to the lead engineer.
  • Diagnose DMS data and performance issues.
  • Validate and reconcile source and target database data before cutover.
  • Collaborate with application teams to align SQL behavior and performance expectations.
  • Work with senior engineers, cloud engineers, and customer stakeholders to deliver successful migrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a database developer/engineer with exposure to migration work.
  • Working experience with at least one of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on exposure to database migration projects such as Oracle-to-PostgreSQL or SQL Server-to-PostgreSQL.
  • Solid SQL skills and a working understanding of query performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with AWS SCT and AWS DMS; hands-on exposure preferred but not required.
  • Awareness of schema migration tools such as Flyway or Liquibase.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL fundamentals, including indexing and execution plans.
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, and IAM (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or CloudFormation (preferred).
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (nice to have).
