Description

  • Lead and grow the Maps & Search engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, 1:1s, feedback, and career development.
  • Stay hands-on with code, design reviews, architecture decisions, and thorny debugging.
  • Own and scale a high-throughput search platform with a focus on architecture, relevance, latency, and reliability.
  • Deliver and improve the home search experience across web and mobile to increase engagement, lead conversion, and agent workflows.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to bring AI-powered discovery, LLMs, and intelligent ranking into search and user workflows.
  • Shape the roadmap with product and design by translating user needs and business goals into a technical plan.
  • Own delivery end to end, including planning, quality, reliability, and incident response.
  • Make technical trade-offs that connect system design to customer outcomes and business value.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful senior or staff-level experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Experience working on search, relevance, ranking, or retrieval systems.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience designing and operating scalable microservice architectures in cloud-native environments, with AWS preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GraphQL, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
  • Proven experience operating high-traffic, low-latency production systems, including SLOs, incident response, and capacity planning.
  • Experience leading high-impact initiatives from concept through production in a SaaS environment.
  • Uses AI daily as part of the engineering workflow.
  • Ability to communicate complex trade-offs clearly to product, design, and executive stakeholders.
