Description

  • Own the design system across Figma and code, including React components, tokens, and patterns used in production.
  • Keep the Figma design system library aligned with the production implementation and evolve it over time with product designers.
  • Raise UI quality across the product by improving transitions, micro-interactions, responsive behavior, loading states, edge-case UI, and accessibility.
  • Build production-ready code for design system components, product UI improvements, and internal tooling.
  • Collaborate closely with product designers to translate experience strategy into high-craft implementation.
  • Work directly with frontend and full-stack engineers to establish reusable patterns, review implementations, and improve the codebase standard for done.
  • Improve team workflows by building tools and processes for prototyping, documentation, development environment, and internal automation.
  • Redesign slow or broken collaboration, prototyping, or shipping processes when better approaches are identified.
  • Mentor teammates on UI craft and help shape the design engineering function as it grows.

Requirements

  • 6+ years building production-ready frontend code in complex, component-driven applications.
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, and modern CSS, with Tailwind experience.
  • Strong opinions about component architecture, performance, and maintainability.
  • A portfolio or body of work demonstrating both technical depth and design sensibility.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining design systems in production, not just in Figma.
  • Familiarity with Base UI, Storybook, and Figma Code Connect is a plus.
  • Exposure to microfrontend architectures, Vite, and composition APIs is a bonus.
  • Track record of building internal tools, developer experience improvements, or workflow automation.
  • Daily use of Claude Code, Cursor, or similar AI-assisted development tools.
  • Familiarity with MCPs and integrations across Figma, Figma Console, and Notion in AI-assisted workflows.
  • Remote-first availability with U.S. core overlap hours required.
  • Hands-on IC mindset with the ability to lead through craft, systems, and influence.
