Description

  • Own the end-to-end data ingestion layer, including completing the migration to open-source ingestion tooling (dlt) and maintaining reliability as the stack evolves.
  • Manage dbt models, tests, documentation, and the semantic layer that defines business metrics.
  • Own Dagster orchestration, including scheduling, retries, alerting, and failure handling across pipeline runs.
  • Keep Lightdash metadata, dimension and measure definitions, and access controls accurate and current.
  • Accelerate data refresh cycles to support near-real-time operational use across the business.
  • Build monitoring, failure alerting, and anomaly detection into the data stack.
  • Trace data issues from source to dashboard, identify root causes, and resolve them.
  • Establish and document data quality standards and lineage practices across the warehouse.
  • Partner with the Technology and Engineering Lead on platform infrastructure, system integrations, and technical initiatives involving data.
  • Build and maintain reverse ETL pipelines, support real-time event pipelines, and contribute to A/B testing infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data engineering or data platform experience with ownership of production pipelines.
  • Strong dbt experience, including models, tests, sources, exposures, and the semantic layer.
  • Solid Snowflake or equivalent cloud warehouse experience; MotherDuck experience is especially relevant.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern orchestration tool such as Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect.
  • Strong Python or TypeScript skills plus SQL.
  • DevOps experience covering environments, deployments, change control, and production troubleshooting.
  • Open-source bias and comfort building and owning tools rather than relying on fully managed abstractions.
  • Comfort with GenAI-assisted development and using LLMs as part of the workflow.
  • Ability to debug data end-to-end through the semantic layer, dbt models, and ingestion pipelines.
  • Comfort working across data and engineering teams in a lean environment.
  • Experience in DTC, ecommerce, or a fast-moving consumer business is a plus.
