Description

  • Serve as the financial expert for an assigned portfolio of properties, including complex properties.
  • Review the work of other accountants for additional properties.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly financial reporting in collaboration with property managers.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants.
  • Complete, review, and research property management transactions, including schedule charges and billing adjustments.
  • Review tenant lease language and ensure it is entered correctly into the accounting system.
  • Maintain and review monthly Rent Roll, Tenant Ledger, Aged Delinquency, and Lease Expiration reports.
  • Maintain and review property general ledgers, balance sheets, and income statements on a cash, accrual, tax, and GAAP basis, including journal entries.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reporting packages, variance reports, and client-required schedules.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, review general ledger accounts for accuracy, and make corrections as needed.
  • Support CAM reconciliation processes and annual operating budget preparation.
  • Prepare monthly construction project draws, review job cost and intercompany reconciliations, and handle partnership accounting tasks.
  • Review AP invoices and daily cash receipt batches for proper coding, documentation, and application before posting.
  • Monitor cash requirements and provide ownership funding requests or distributions as needed.
  • Support team members and complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience in a similar capacity.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with strong attention to detail and ownership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of financial systems, with Oracle preferred, for data extraction, reporting, and statement generation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and balance competing priorities effectively.
  • Experience with property accounting or real estate accounting is implied by the role's scope.
