Description

  • Review draft Grades 6-8 ELD lessons for alignment with California ELD standards.
  • Evaluate lessons for pedagogical effectiveness, including scaffolding, differentiation, and language development strategies.
  • Assess the alignment and integration of ELD lessons with EL Education’s Grades 6-8 Module lessons.
  • Provide specific, constructive feedback on lesson content, activities, assessments, and teacher guidance.
  • Evaluate lessons for cultural and linguistic responsiveness.
  • Verify that lessons address California ELD standards across Emerging, Expanding, and Bridging proficiency levels.
  • Confirm that lessons support all three parts of the CA ELD Standards, including meaningful interaction, English language development, and foundational literacy skills.
  • Review instructional materials, timing, and lesson structures for practicality and ease of implementation.
  • Assess opportunities for student discourse, collaboration, and authentic language use.
  • Review the clarity, completeness, accessibility, and organization of lesson materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid California teaching credential preferred, such as CLAD, BCLAD, or English Learner Authorization.
  • 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience in Grades 6-8 ELA.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching English Language Development or working with emergent bilingual students.
  • Proven knowledge of California ELD standards and how to apply them in the classroom.
  • Experience with curriculum review, instructional coaching, or educational materials development preferred.
  • Strong understanding of California ELD standards and framework.
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition theory and best practices for ELD instruction.
  • Familiarity with EL Education curriculum and instructional approach preferred.
  • Proficiency with digital collaboration tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms.
