Description

  • Oversee the technical quality and ongoing improvement of IXL's specialized student assessments.
  • Develop modern, widely used computer-adaptive tests (CAT) for K–12, including universal screening and diagnostic assessments for math and ELA.
  • Conduct classical and item response theory (IRT) analyses, including item calibration, scoring, scaling, equating, and score reporting.
  • Perform quality assurance, reliability, and validity analyses and collaborate on documenting development processes and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with curriculum designers, research scientists, product managers, and content experts to create, curate, and maintain item pools.
  • Advance IXL's assessment strategy and contribute to analyses intended for publication to support fair and equitable assessment experiences.
  • Translate technical findings into clear summaries and recommendations for diverse internal audiences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Education Measurement, Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of active experience in new test development, computer-adaptive testing, item pool maintenance, standard-setting, equating, and validity studies.
  • Fluency in computer/statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SQL).
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical information for varied audiences.
  • Willingness to innovate and develop efficient solutions to complex problems.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with openness to others' ideas.
  • Familiarity with K–12 education (preferred).
  • Knowledge of mobile and web technologies (preferred).
  • Must be based in the United States (position is full-time remote for U.S. candidates).
