Description

  • Lead the technical architecture for the Partnerships platform across identity, cart, checkout, attribution, and partner orchestration.
  • Define boundaries and contracts between partner-facing and internal systems to enable fast, repeatable launches.
  • Drive the evolution from a broad backend surface area to a coherent, well-factored platform.
  • Identify repeatable integration patterns and turn them into reusable APIs, services, workflows, configuration, and tooling.
  • Reduce per-partner customization by making differences explicit, intentional, and configuration-driven where possible.
  • Partner with product and partner teams to define SLAs, integration playbooks, and technical standards.
  • Collaborate with Identity, Payments, Cart, Checkout, Fulfillment, Retailer Engineering, Mobile Platform, Growth, and Marketing on roadmap alignment.
  • Represent the Partnerships technical perspective in cross-functional forums and help avoid one-off solutions.
  • Translate ambiguous partner and business goals into concrete, staged technical plans.
  • Mentor and uplevel engineers through system design, tradeoffs, and execution in ambiguous problem spaces.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer building and operating large-scale backend or full-stack systems.
  • Significant experience in a technical lead or Staff-level capacity.
  • Proven track record designing and evolving platforms or integration frameworks for reuse and clear contracts.
  • Deep experience with distributed systems and APIs, including service boundaries, data modeling, reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Experience with user-facing flows such as identity, cart, checkout, or payments.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and uplevel engineers across levels (L4–L6 equivalent).
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with product, design, data, and external or partner engineering teams.
  • Experience architecting or leading partner integrations at a consumer or platform company is preferred.
  • Comfort working in environments where strategy, architecture, and execution are tightly coupled is preferred.
  • Prior experience interacting with external stakeholders such as partner engineers, business development, or legal is preferred.

  • Highly market-competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Base salary of $265,000–$279,500 USD for CA, NY, CT, and NJ.
  • Base salary of $254,000–$268,000 USD for WA.
  • Base salary of $243,000–$256,500 USD for OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, and HI.
  • Base salary of $221,000–$233,000 USD for all other states.
  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant.
  • Eligible for annual refresh equity grants.
