Description

  • Lead and break down complex data platform problems while keeping the broader data vision in focus.
  • Design and build systems that capture and enforce data compliance requirements.
  • Improve self-service capabilities for internal data consumers while maintaining data integrity and consistency.
  • Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to consolidate requirements and drive architectural alignment.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
  • Directly contribute to data vision and engineering architecture through technical artifacts and reviews.
  • Own engineering initiatives end to end, including risk management, goal setting, execution, and delivery.
  • Balance maintainability, technical debt, and new feature development.
  • Support systems used for metrics transformation and storage, billing, spam detection, and lift testing.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing ambiguity and conflicting requirements.
  • Strong self-motivation and ownership in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Expertise in Spark, ETLs, distributed system architecture, MapReduce, SQL, and big data infrastructure.
  • Ability to balance urgency and pragmatism with high-quality, long-term solutions.
  • 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Strong background in Scala and functional programming preferred.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, Airflow, Python, Terraform, and Go preferred.

  • Highly market-competitive compensation.
  • Base salary range of $265,000-$279,500 in CA, NY, CT, and NJ; $254,000-$268,000 in WA; $243,000-$256,000 in several other listed states; and $221,000-$233,000 in all other states.
  • Eligible for a new hire equity grant.
  • Eligible for annual refresh equity grants.
  • Access to Instacart benefits offerings.
