Description

  • Work closely with finance, accounting, billing, and revenue teams to understand pain points and translate them into scalable data solutions.
  • Own critical data integration pipelines and models that support uniform, reliable, timely, and accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage initiatives from design through execution on a small team with significant ownership and autonomy.
  • Shape the finance data vision, roadmap, and organization-wide data strategy through new initiatives and technical decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and design shared datasets.
  • Mentor other team members and promote engineering excellence across the organization.
  • Build and maintain high-quality ETL/ELT pipelines for accounting and billing purposes.
  • Design data models for complex financial data with scalability and usability in mind.
  • Ensure data systems support reporting needs for monthly and quarterly book close processes, retailer invoicing, and internal/external financial reporting.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data or software engineering with a focus on building data pipelines, especially financial data pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
  • Strong knowledge of Python, Airflow, Spark, Iceberg, and Delta Lake in a production environment.
  • Expertise in data modeling, including complex financial data models built for scalability and usability.
  • Expert-level SQL and dbt experience.
  • Experience building high-quality, complex ETL/ELT pipelines, including pipelines for accounting and billing.
  • Experience with data immutability, auditability, slowly changing dimensions, or similar concepts.
  • Ability to communicate fluently with cross-functional stakeholders to drive requirements and shared dataset design.
  • Ability to balance urgency with shipping high-quality, pragmatic solutions.
  • Experience working in a large codebase on a cross-functional team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow preferred.
  • Experience with SOX-controlled data systems preferred.
