Description

  • Triage and resolve complex technical escalations as the first line of defense, reproducing issues and delivering fixes directly in production-safe environments.
  • Translate production data and incidents into reproducible test cases to unblock offshore teams and maintain development velocity.
  • Contribute to core product development by writing features and refactoring legacy backend code to deliver permanent engineering fixes for recurring support issues.
  • Architect and build tools and internal pipelines (e.g., data de-identification) to improve platform stability, safety, and developer productivity.
  • Own the health and reliability of the US production environment, monitoring metrics and optimizing systems for scale and uptime.
  • Analyze and optimize database performance, including slow Postgres queries, query plans, locking strategies, and concurrency issues.
  • Meet with customers to understand requirements and adapt or develop technical solutions that address their needs and prevent future incidents.
  • Balance priorities across high-impact customer work, core product development, and operational reliability tasks, owning delivery and customer communication for assigned issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, with a strong backend focus and hands-on approach to solving production problems.
  • Experience developing and shipping TypeScript/Node.js backend code (stated as core product language).
  • Operational fluency in production environments, including experience reading logs, tracing bugs from customer reports to code, and owning incident resolution.
  • Deep familiarity with Postgres internals, including analyzing query plans, debugging concurrency (locking/contention), and optimizing data access for scale.
  • Experience building metrics, monitoring systems, and optimizing existing observability to improve reliability.
  • Demonstrated ownership and customer-facing communication skills consistent with a forward deployed mindset (driving fixes and managing stakeholders).
  • Comfort working in a remote-first, distributed team and acting as a US-based anchor for production ownership and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with platform/SRE responsibilities and building internal tooling or pipelines (preferred).
