Description

  • Own product direction and outcomes across ingest, querying, data retrieval, storage, and the internal design system.
  • Prioritize scalable, reliable, and maintainable capabilities aligned to long-term product and company strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with platform engineering, cross-functional engineering teams, product, and design.
  • Understand and improve the developer experience at Honeycomb through platform fundamentals.
  • Build relationships and lead technical conversations across the company, including with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success.
  • Stay close to field teams and customer-facing feedback to inform product decisions.
  • Advocate for user needs by understanding customer pain points and opportunities.
  • Use stakeholder guidance to lead product discovery and define product direction.
  • Contribute to the Product Manager community of practice by fostering cohesion and knowledge-sharing.
  • Align field and product engineering around a vision that improves customer outcomes and establishes subject-matter expertise.

Requirements

  • Endless curiosity and a proactive, data-informed problem-solving approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback.
  • Systems thinking with the ability to understand how backend services and design systems fit together.
  • Ability to set vision while also delivering small increments of value quickly and iteratively.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and working toward clarity through learning and exploration.
  • Experience in technically complex environments, such as being a developer or working on technical SaaS products.
  • Strong preference for experience working in or using tracing, metrics, monitoring, or analytics software.
  • Interest in or excitement about building the next generation of tracing technology.
  • Ability to work as a fully remote team member in a distributed-first company.
  • Cannot require visa transfer sponsorship; candidates must be eligible to work and verify identity and work authorization.

  • Base salary of $146,500 to $172,500 USD, based on level of experience.
