Description

  • Build the product discipline and operating model for internal systems, including discovery, requirements, specifications, trade-off review, adoption measurement, and user feedback loops.
  • Own the roadmap for trading and research platforms in partnership with the CIO, engineering, trading, research, and management teams.
  • Work directly with traders and researchers to understand their workflows, decisions, datasets, investigations, and pain points.
  • Translate ambiguous practitioner needs into clear, evidence-backed requirements and product decisions for engineering.
  • Ensure internal systems are trustworthy and explainable through strong data lineage, source transparency, and human-in-the-loop principles.
  • Act as the connective tissue across trading, research, engineering, and leadership to align priorities and surface trade-offs.
  • Define success metrics for product work, including faster research cycles, better data quality, reduced manual work, stronger adoption, risk reduction, and potential PnL impact.
  • Evaluate external data providers and tooling vendors based on coverage, latency, reliability, cost, API quality, and integration complexity.
  • Establish product rituals, documentation standards, and feedback loops that suit a high-performance trading environment.
  • Hire, develop, and lead a small product team as the scope grows.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including senior product leadership in complex, technical, data-intensive environments.
  • Experience building or scaling a product function, including hiring product managers and setting standards across stakeholders.
  • Experience with internal platforms, expert-user workflows, trading systems, research tooling, market data, financial technology, data infrastructure, or similar environments.
  • Ability to work with highly specialized users, understand workflows deeply, and translate ambiguous needs into clear product decisions.
  • Strong technical and data fluency, including comfort querying data, inspecting unfamiliar datasets, sanity-checking quality, and working with engineers on architecture and trade-offs.
  • Excellent requirements-writing ability with specifications that are clear for engineering and tied to business or workflow outcomes.
  • Strong product judgment, including when to challenge a request, gather more evidence, escalate a trade-off, or commit to a decision.
  • Clear written communication in a strong writing culture where important decisions and trade-offs are documented.
  • Ability to move quickly without becoming sloppy in a real-money trading environment.
  • Independent judgment and the ability to disagree constructively, remain calm under pressure, and align behind decisions once made.
  • Experience at a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, quant manager, market maker, crypto trading firm, or financial data/platform company (highly valuable).
  • Familiarity with crypto markets, including spot, perpetuals, funding rates, liquidity, on-chain data, unlock schedules, block explorers, and market microstructure (highly valuable).
  • Experience evaluating market data, on-chain data, alternative data, or other third-party data providers (highly valuable).
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams (highly valuable).
  • Familiarity with research, analytics, risk, execution, portfolio, or monitoring workflows (highly valuable).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, notebooks, analytics tools, or similar ways of investigating data directly (highly valuable).
