Description

  • Develop and maintain web-based applications and systems using modern front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Work with small, feature-focused teams to engineer solutions and deliver Agile development outcomes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, DevSecOps engineers, and product designers on technical work and feature delivery.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level developers through code review and feedback.
  • Write clear, readable code and tests while maintaining code quality.
  • Define database migrations, queries, mutations, and resolvers for backend services.
  • Connect backend Express.js services to external APIs.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to teammates and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the branch-and-merge process, release candidate selection, and hotfix backporting.
  • Contribute to customer-oriented problem solving and presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent software engineering experience.
  • Strong fundamental programming skills and familiarity with SOLID design principles.
  • Senior-level proficiency with React frontend development, including functional components, hooks, local and remote state management, CSS-in-JS, and component-driven development.
  • Senior-level proficiency with Express.js backend development and related technologies such as GraphQL, REST, and at least one ORM (Drizzle, TypeORM, Knex, or Sequelize).
  • Senior-level experience with TypeScript, including utility types, interfaces, and compile-time vs. runtime typing.
  • Proficiency with Git and GitFlow, including branching, merging, release candidates, and hotfixes.
  • Ability to perform thorough code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
  • Fully remote, full-time role requiring U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Active Secret clearance is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to relocate to the DC area and work hybrid on-site is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Agile, especially Scrum, is preferred.
  • Experience with real-time geospatial data visualization and streaming tools such as Mapbox, WebGL, D3.js, Visx, Charts.js, Protobuffers, GraphQL Subscriptions, SSE, or WebSockets is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and PostGIS is preferred, including query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.
  • Experience with spectrum or RF engineering, or related physics knowledge, is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with product design teams, data scientists/engineers, ISSOs, and government stakeholders is preferred.
  • AWS Cloud Developer-level experience, including CI/CD, containers, networking, managed services, and high-security production support, is preferred.
