Description

  • Design the end-to-end architecture for Gravie’s operational data platform, enabling ingestion and processing of streaming data across systems and partners.
  • Lead technology evaluation and selection for real-time data infrastructure that aligns with Gravie’s compliance and strategic requirements.
  • Define, socialize, and govern canonical data models and reference architectures (e.g., claims and enrollment) to support internal and external usage.
  • Define data contract standards and processes and work with partner teams to activate those patterns across producers and consumers.
  • Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, RBAC, and security controls with HIPAA compliance in mind.
  • Drive data observability practices (freshness, distribution, volume, schema, lineage) and leverage Data Reliability OKRs to influence change.
  • Act as the architectural authority for complex design decisions: identify tradeoffs, surface risks early, and provide design stewardship.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship to Data Producer and Consumer teams and collaborate closely with Product Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Operations.
  • Operate at the forefront of data platform innovation, translating platform capabilities into practical AI and operational use cases.

Requirements

  • 8–15 years of experience architecting and operating large-scale data integrations, streaming pipelines, and operational data movement in a cloud environment.
  • Hands-on experience with stream processing technologies such as Kafka, Flink, and Debezium (or similar), including stateful processing and exactly-once delivery semantics.
  • Extensive experience with AWS and cloud-native data infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of data observability concepts (freshness, distribution, volume, schema, lineage) and experience applying them to real-time healthcare streams.
  • Prior experience in healthcare with knowledge of HIPAA, ePHI, and secure data exchange requirements with external parties.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python, with foundational knowledge of JVM-based languages (e.g., Java) preferred.
  • Proven history of multiple end-to-end implementations and successful collaboration with Product Engineers, Data Engineers, and Data Operations teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to take complex, ambiguous problems to concrete, measurable solutions that align with business goals.
  • Strong communication skills with success driving results through influence and translating technical concepts for business and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience at or with venture-backed startups (preferred).

Benefits

  • Salary range $170,250–$283,750 annually.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits including alternative medicine coverage.
  • Generous PTO plus paid holidays.
  • Up to 16 weeks paid parental leave.
  • 401(k) program.
  • Transportation perks and education reimbursement.
  • Paid paw-ternity leave.
  • Remote full-time role with opportunities for career growth and mission-driven work.
