Description

  • Own end-to-end technical direction for Session Replay across frontend, backend, and data systems.
  • Drive the evolution of the backend architecture for session capture and storage.
  • Design systems around columnar or analytical storage for large-scale session data.
  • Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns for session replay data.
  • Lead the design of investigation workflows that connect replay with logs, metrics, traces, and other telemetry.
  • Make architectural decisions that impact multiple teams and products.
  • Partner with teams across Grafana to build cohesive cross-product experiences.
  • Improve engineering standards, patterns, and operational practices within the team.
  • Mentor engineers and help grow technical leadership within the team.

Requirements

  • Remote-first availability in the EST or CT timezone in the United States or Canada.
  • Strong ability to reason about data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, querying, and cost trade-offs.
  • Comfort working independently in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken English.
  • Comfort working collaboratively in a consensus-driven, remote team environment.
  • Good understanding of a user-centered software development process.
  • Experience working on complex, maintainable, and well-automated solutions.
  • Experience with columnar or analytical databases is preferred.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with privacy, security, and access control in data-heavy systems is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of USD 174,986 to USD 218,733 in the United States.
