Description

  • Lead the Corporate Engineering team across corporate systems, employee device lifecycles, helpdesk queues, and internal tooling development.
  • Own the optimization of the current IT operations stack and drive the internal AI-native strategy.
  • Build processes and systems that enable teams to experiment, automate, and own their workflows.
  • Lead corporate security initiatives by deploying guardrails and compliance checks that fit into employee workflows.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including negotiation and contracting with core SaaS providers.
  • Improve transparency by making work and costs visible to internal stakeholders and using that visibility to refine processes.
  • Leverage Grafana products and the broader ecosystem to solve corporate engineering challenges where possible.
  • Provide regular 1:1s, coaching, mentoring, and continuous feedback to team members.
  • Participate in team work queues, review design documents, and contribute to project definition and readiness.
  • Serve on the team and department on-call rotation and contribute as an active member of the wider Foundations leadership group.

Requirements

  • Experience running a software engineering operations team.
  • Strong engineering background with the ability to engage in technical conversations and drive technical decision-making.
  • Understanding of at least one cloud provider and working knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Deep hands-on experience with corporate IT systems across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
  • Experience with SSO tools such as Okta and 1Password, MDM tools such as Jamf, Intune, FleetDM, or Kolide, and corporate SaaS platforms such as Salesforce and Zendesk.
  • Experience with workplace productivity tools such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with EDR, DLP, employee laptops and device management, and AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, and Google.
  • DevOps-oriented approach to IT and corporate security, with a preference for automation, enablement, and guardrails over gates.
  • Knowledge of the current AI state of the art and ideas for applying AI safely and effectively across the enterprise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working with autonomous engineering teams and influencing through collaboration.
  • Ability to work Eastern-time-oriented hours to maximize overlap with EMEA peers.
  • Programming or software engineering background before moving into leadership is a plus.
  • Experience with Go, multiple cloud providers, and Kubernetes expertise is a plus.
  • Significant experience leveraging and securing AI tooling for non-development, code, and agentic automation use cases is a plus.
  • A ready plan for securing AI is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Grafana Labs OSS projects and products, and experience using observability tooling for IT or security problems, is a plus.
  • Experience working with open-source communities is a plus.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of USD 208,000 to USD 260,000 in the United States.
  • Equity as part of total compensation.
