Description

  • Contribute to the open-source Grafana Mimir project and Grafana Cloud Metrics platform.
  • Design, build, operate, and maintain critical distributed systems with ownership for reliability, performance, and availability.
  • Work with the team to deliver new features that solve customer problems and improve large-scale operations.
  • Drive projects from initial idea through delivery and operational support once customers are using them.
  • Write and review pull requests and design documents.
  • Help guide automated release rollouts and participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate with teammates in design discussions and support other engineers on shared projects.
  • Identify and implement performance and reliability improvements from production operations.
  • Contribute to related open-source projects when relevant to the team’s goals.

Requirements

  • Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used, and familiarity with Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar is beneficial.
  • Some experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and brainstorming through shipping to customers in a self-driven way.
  • Some experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience in systems engineering.
  • Some experience with on-call work and the DevOps model.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant software that is maintainable by others.
  • Familiarity with observability systems and knowing when to use metrics, logs, and traces to debug issues.
  • Pragmatic approach to breaking complex problems into modular solutions with iterative delivery and feedback loops.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for a fully remote team setup.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes (preferred).
  • Experience with queue systems such as the Kafka protocol (preferred).
  • Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles (preferred).
  • Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or a desire to learn (preferred).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (preferred).
