Description

  • Deliver new backend functionality and iterate based on results.
  • Contribute to and review design documents for upcoming features.
  • Own and operate backend services, including participating in on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate with the team on design discussions and cross-team technical work.
  • Mentor and support other team members in an asynchronous, collaborative environment.
  • Share technical ideas and knowledge across squads and the broader organization.
  • Influence the product roadmap and help shape career objectives.
  • Contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope.
  • Work closely with other squads in the Grafana Division.

Requirements

  • Solid backend development experience, ideally with Go.
  • Strong understanding of storage solutions, especially relational databases such as MySQL, SQLite, and Postgres.
  • Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers.
  • Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative, asynchronous environment.
  • Ability to analyze, design, and build modular solutions, deliver MVPs, and iterate using data and feedback.
  • Comfort working on complex technical products with demanding users.
  • Bonus: experience with open-source software or commercial open-source companies.
  • Bonus: experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Bonus: experience with CI/CD, DevOps, or Developer Efficiency work streams.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
  • Bonus: familiarity with on-call duties and operations/SRE tasks.
  • Bonus: exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems, or willingness to learn.
  • Role is available for candidates located in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, or Sweden.

Benefits

  • Base salary range in the UK: £91,000 - £114,000.
