Description

  • Identify and acquire new retail stores using territory sales strategies.
  • Manage and grow focused accounts, including small regional chains, through headquarters relationships and joint business planning.
  • Build and maintain distributor and store-level relationships while providing service and support.
  • Achieve sales targets, manage trade spend and travel budgets, and drive product adoption.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and reports for sales management.
  • Monitor, adapt to, and report on market trends and competitive activity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support order fulfillment and client satisfaction.
  • Execute new product launches, promotions, and marketing programs.
  • Attend distributor and retailer industry events to represent the brands and expand industry relationships.
  • Maintain current knowledge of pet brands, the independent pet channel, and the broader pet industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; a degree in business, sales, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of pet-industry experience selling to retailers at the store level.
  • At least 3 years of experience selling through distributor sales representatives.
  • Five years of pet-industry retail sales and distributor-representative sales experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of pet distributors, retailers, and retail-channel sales dynamics.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with focused accounts and regional-chain headquarters.
  • Strategic planning, territory management, and market-opportunity identification skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of strong follow-through.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75% annually.

  • Base salary of $72,000–$90,000 plus bonus potential, including potential quarterly KPI bonuses.
