Description

  • Lead foundational, problem validation, and strategic research across assigned product areas.
  • Drive brand and product research such as buyer persona development, brand perception studies, and digital experience research.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on user behaviours, pain points, workflows, and goals within your coverage area.
  • Synthesize insights across studies to surface broader patterns and macro-level findings.
  • Build trusted relationships with Product Design, Product Management, Brand, and Marketing partners.
  • Advocate for actionable insights and communicate findings clearly to increase empathy across the organization.
  • Independently prioritize research work across stage groups based on impact, product direction, and company objectives.
  • Mentor other researchers and help improve team processes through documentation, peer review, and iteration.
  • Guide stakeholders toward the most appropriate research approach, including senior stakeholders.
  • Support the Experience Research team’s ways of working in a fast-paced, highly iterative environment.

Requirements

  • Deep mixed-methods research experience across qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Track record in both product research and marketing or brand research.
  • Ability to guide stakeholders, including senior stakeholders, toward the right research approach.
  • Strong prioritization skills across multiple stakeholder groups in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear, compelling communication skills tailored to product, brand, and marketing audiences.
  • Experience working in a highly iterative, fast-paced environment with the ability to pivot quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote, globally distributed team with strong async communication habits.
  • Self-motivated, self-managing, and highly organized.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly in a highly technical domain.
  • Must be able to conduct research in a fully remote setting and use GitLab as part of the daily workflow.
  • Experience working on AI products, particularly for enterprise dev tooling, is a plus.
  • Experience working on enterprise and/or developer tooling products is a plus.
  • Alignment with GitLab’s values is required.
