Description

  • Implement backend features for the Add-On’s supply chain security product, including package policy integrations, ingestion pipeline improvements, signing and verification support, and reliability work.
  • Build and maintain integrations between Add-On functionality and GitLab’s software composition analysis scanning infrastructure.
  • Ensure findings appear consistently and accurately in merge request security reports.
  • Write and maintain automated test coverage using RSpec and integration tests.
  • Contribute across multiple feature areas as team priorities evolve.
  • Participate in code review by giving actionable feedback and incorporating feedback into your own work.
  • Create clear internal documentation for shipped features and behavior.
  • Coordinate with adjacent Software Supply Chain Security teams to deliver aligned functionality.
  • Collaborate effectively across time zones in an async-first environment, including occasional off-hours overlap when needed.

Requirements

  • Backend development experience with the ability to deliver maintainable production code.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with Golang, or willingness to learn and work across Ruby on Rails and Go.
  • Experience with RSpec or an equivalent automated testing framework.
  • Clear, direct written communication skills and experience working with distributed teams asynchronously.
  • Ability to manage scoped work independently, communicate progress clearly, and adapt as priorities shift.
  • Interest in package ecosystems such as npm, Maven, PyPI, or OCI containers, or adjacent experience in this domain.
  • Interest in software supply chain security, dependency management, DevSecOps, or security-adjacent product development.
  • Experience with security-focused backend development is preferred.
