Description

  • Architect and maintain Ava’s voice and workflow systems with a strong focus on uptime, latency, and production reliability.
  • Design the internal delivery layer that lets the team configure, monitor, and optimize AI performance without increasing engineering headcount.
  • Own the technical unit economics by balancing AI quality against cost per call within the $499/month pricing model.
  • Make high-stakes technical decisions about feasibility, scalability, and readiness to protect product integrity and user trust.
  • Take full end-to-end accountability for the technical lifecycle from initial code through live pilot outcomes.
  • Partner with the founder to define the product roadmap and remove features that threaten delivery speed or economics.
  • Build and lead a lean technical team and establish standards for code quality, logging, and audit trails.
  • Ensure AI outcomes are explainable, reviewable, and operationally dependable for lawyers who rely on the service.
  • Represent the company as a technical leader during fundraising and due diligence, translating the architecture for investors and partners.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • Direct experience with voice systems, conversational AI, or real-time AI workflows.
  • Experience deploying LLM-powered systems into production, not just prototypes.
  • Ability to architect and implement a strategy for building and self-hosting custom models over time to support legal and privacy needs.
  • Strong understanding of reliability engineering, human-in-the-loop systems, and edge-case management.
  • Experience building service-heavy or managed platforms, not just pure SaaS.
  • Comfort working closely with business leadership and owning delivery outcomes.
  • Preferred: experience in legal tech, healthcare, or another trust-sensitive vertical.
  • Preferred: experience running production systems with real-world users under time pressure.
  • Preferred: prior founder or early-stage leadership experience.
