Description

  • Develop scalable and reliable data pipelines to collect, transform, and load customer data while maintaining strong data integrity and quality.
  • Build, customize, and configure self-service tools that help data consumers extract, analyze, and visualize internal data.
  • Evaluate and refine data sources continuously to improve data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Recommend new tools, metrics, and techniques to improve data engineering processes and outcomes.
  • Partner with teams across the company to understand business objectives and develop analytics solutions that drive results.
  • Support complex analytics and data-driven decision-making for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Help shape data engineering best practices and influence key technical decisions as an early team member.
  • Take ownership of important areas within a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a relevant role.
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL and other languages such as DQL or Python.
  • Proficiency with relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong skills in data manipulation, reverse engineering, and solving complex data problems.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Kibana, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Proven experience designing and managing data lakes, data warehouses, and other scalable data technologies.
  • Experience using technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Parquet, Apache Arrow, BigQuery, and Amazon S3.
  • Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on data quality and integrity.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, currently live in the U.S., pass an FBI background check, and be willing to take a drug test.
  • Early-stage tech startup experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to law enforcement, public safety, or similar data systems is preferred.
  • A Computer Science or Engineering degree from a 4-year accredited university is preferred.
  • Advanced Elasticsearch experience with search queries and aggregations is preferred.
  • Experience with object-oriented design and software design patterns is preferred.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline observability is preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD is preferred.
  • Prior experience working on an Agile/Scrum team is preferred.
