Description

  • Develop and maintain the backend systems powering the Foodsmart web application.
  • Design, build, and operate backend services and data infrastructure for member-facing experiences and internal clinical workflows.
  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to design and implement APIs that meet product needs.
  • Establish and uphold development practices, including code reviews and comprehensive testing, to improve code quality and system performance.
  • Work with the product team to understand user requirements, define use cases, and translate them into robust backend solutions.
  • Debug and resolve production, server-side, and database-related issues.
  • Monitor, optimize, and scale system performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the frontend when needed to support end-to-end product quality.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend ways to apply them to backend development.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of proven experience in backend development using one or more languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, including algorithms and data structures.
  • Proficient knowledge of RESTful APIs and experience designing and implementing them for performance.
  • Strong command of SQL databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, as well as non-relational databases such as DynamoDB.
  • Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Amazon Redshift is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, RDS, and EC2.
  • Exposure to Docker and experience running applications in a container orchestration environment such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with low-code development platforms such as Retool is a plus.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Well-developed communication, problem-solving, testing, and quality assurance skills.
